Octagos Gives You and Your Care Team the Tools for Better Cardiac Care.
Remote monitoring lets your doctor track your heart health without the need for frequent office visits. If you have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or another heart device, it can securely send important information about your heart’s activity and the device’s function to your doctor. This ensures your healthcare team can monitor your heart health closely and respond to concerns quickly.
When your cardiac device is implanted, you’ll receive a home bedside monitor from the device manufacturer. In some cases, your device may also work with a smartphone app available for iPhone or Android. These tools securely send information about your heart and the device’s function to your doctor. Your physician receives routine updates as part of regular check-ins and is alerted if your device detects any abnormal activity. This allows your healthcare team to monitor your heart health without requiring extra office visits.
Home monitoring is the standard of care for patients with implantable heart devices. It ensures your doctor can track your heart health regularly and catch potential issues early. This helps reduce the risk of complications, minimizes emergency visits, and allows your doctor to make timely adjustments to keep your heart functioning at its best.
Octagos helps your doctor manage your heart health by providing advanced software and support services for remote monitoring. Our system organizes data from your cardiac device, making it easier for your doctor to identify any concerns quickly. We also offer expert clinical support to help manage alerts, identify changes in your heart’s activity, and ensure you receive the right care at the right time. By simplifying the remote monitoring process, Octagos allows your doctor to focus on providing the best care for your heart health.
Unless instructed otherwise, please leave your bedside monitor on and plugged in within 10 feet of where you routinely sleep.
You do not need to bring the monitor while on vacation unless you are planning to be away for more than 2 weeks.
The device clinic does not receive daily transmissions on every patient. The remote monitor can either send the data automatically or require a manual download.
Many remote monitor transmitters communicate with the device in your body and perform a “self-check” each night between 12AM-3AM.
Remote monitoring does not replace the need to call your doctor with any new or concerning symptoms. Remote monitoring is not a substitute for emergency care. If you are feeling unwell, call 911 or go to your local emergency department.
An alert is sent to the device clinic if specific criteria are observed. Depending on the nature of the alert, you may receive a call from Octagos or your device clinics team. The alerts are checked routinely during normal business hours.
A transmission schedule will be arranged by our device team based on your individual needs. You will be informed of the dates and times of scheduled transmissions.Octagos will help schedule and send transmissions based on your clinics preferences.
Remote monitoring does not replace the need for periodic in-person clinic visits. Not all aspects of the device can be checked via remote monitoring. In addition, programming changes can only be made at in-person visits.
Insurance companies typically cover the costs of remote monitoring. However, some private insurance companies may have a high deductible. Please call your insurance company to determine your out-of-pocket costs.
